Education for All (EfA) has been warmly embraced by many groups and individuals in the UK and abroad.

The Education for All Trust

The Education for All Trust moved swiftly from concept to reality, being conferred charity status, and has now moved into a site in Corby where EfA has a 50,000 sq ft depot in which to store and sort furniture and equipment.

The enthusiasm and energy that greeted our launch is undoubted and we are proud to have the resources, skills and wisdom of our founding Development Partners and confirm ongoing relationships with the organizations that support our initiative including:

Advancing Education:

Education for All believes in employing staff members from all backgrounds and giving each one the opportunity to gain experience and qualifications in their area of expertise. This can be seen through the fact that EfA have recently been approved for the governments Skills Pledge Initiative, this was set up to recognise employers who were training all staff to the level of NVQ 2 and above.

EfA staff includes:

  • 1 local entry to employment (e2e) young adult.
  • 3 local Princes Trust young adults
  • 1 previously unemployed adult

Qualifications obtained in the last year include:

  • All employees have passed the Constructions Skills Certification Scheem (CSCS)
  • 10 staff members have completed the Appointed Person first aid training
  • One employee has sucessfully trained and passed PAT electrical testing certification
  • One employee has completed the Institute of Leadership Management qualification.
  • Two employees have completed the IOSH managing safely course
  • Two employees have completed training for Risk Assessments
  • 4 employees are currently completing a level 2 NVQ in Warehouse and Distribution

As well as advancing the education of our staff, EfA was established to assist in the advancement of education in developing countries. To date, we have sent 21 x 40 foot containers over seas, each one catering for 500 pupils. Through the charity Education for All Trust, we have also successfully established school partnerships between donor schools here in the UK and receiving schools abroad.

Project delivery:

In the initial three months of operation, EfA were engaged with the largest schools PFI project in the country in Bassetlaw, North Nottinghamshire, thanks to the support of Transform Schools the specific delivery vehicle for education of Balfour Beatty. This project has been to successfully handle the first phase of a major new school build. We can measure the success of projects like this in simple facts:

  • Four schools involved clearing 6,669 items (115.7Tonnes).
  • Diverted 109.26T from landfill (94.4%).
  • Re-distributed 4,072 good quality items (61.1%) for re-use overseas.
  • Dismantled and recycled 2,594 items (42T) through UK Environment Agency registered waste brokers and carriers to recycle: 23.2T of wood (into compost or energy recovery) 17.3T of mild steel metal 1.5T of polypropylene plastic.
  • EfA has also facilitated its first school partnership and teacher exchange set up between UK and South Africa.
  • 4 containers with over 2900 items have arrived at Cape College Education Office, Fort Beaufort Eastern Cape South Africa.

Measuring and sharing our successes is the best way to promote the value of Education for All. Together we can ensure that life-long learning is for possible for everyone, no matter where they are.
